It's bad.

We have a decaying empire that will not go quietly. (U.S.)
Greed with no regard for the consequences.
Technological advances are coming that will far exceed the changes from the introduction of the industrial age.

I think many European countries will be ok.
This continent will see bad things.

In the long run?  50 years?  I think there is hope.
I hope humans will learn from the travesty that will be the next 30-50 years.

That's my take on it.  That's just what's going to happen.  America's Dream Is Over.

...but I think something better will replace it, and that something will be good.

When it comes to the media, I really agree with this. It quite shocking to watch a news broadcast...especially the network morning shows. Wowzer...half the world could blow up and their lead story would be a dancing cat.  "Coming up next, catastrophic floods kill hundreds in China...but first....Justin Beiber has a new tattoo. After the break."

Then of course you have the talking heads who will speculate for an hour and then the news break has a quote of the speculation like it's true. So weird.  :o

This is why I asked the original question. It's really hard to tell what is fact.

And don't get me started on the "Donald".  ::)

It's so brutal to even glance at "The News".  They will endlessly talk about who might win the presidency or senate.  I've seen this game go on since the early 70s. It's just two sides of the Business Party.

The media ignores so many important issues.  Pension dumping by corporations?  Apparently not important.

They focus on what you need to be scared of:  Fear ISIS..or Al Queda...I forgot who the latest enemy is.  Ebola.  Donald Sterling was very important because he said something bad.  We needed full coverage of that but not when he was discriminating against minorities with his housing business interests.

It's not even news.  It's "Hey Guess What You Guys!"  They will keep us informed of the latest developments with Gay Marriage (which effects about 1% of the population or less.  And yes I want them to have that right to marry) but not the same coverage of what reforms have NOT taken place since Wall St. tanked the economy.

It's just a carnival that I watch from the outside.

Here's CNN right now.

I find CNN and Fox unwatchable.  I like BBC World Service..but they go on about things too.

I'm sick and tired of hearing things
From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocrites
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth
I've had enough of reading things
By neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth

I agree with all of you. I subscribe to alternative news networks now and they seem to get the breaking news much quicker than the mainstream too. For example, there have been alarming threats and developments between North and South Korea over the weekend - but nothing has been covered on the main networks.

Great. Some yahoo just shot and killed 2 reporters doing a live interview for a breakfast television spot in Virginia.  :-[ :o
