Title: Live at The BBC
Post by: Keri on August 23, 2014, 12:05:31 am
I have got the original release of this not the remaster so I'd be interested to hear what people have to say about the comparison of the  sound quality.

Having recently finished Mark Lewisohn's vol 1 biography Tune In, I think one of the most significant things about these recordings (and the volume 2 set) is it gives us a window onto the earlier career of the Beatles, Please Please Me was nowhere near the start of the Beatles, it marked a significant change in a band that was already highly successful as a local band and in its German setting. Please Please me marked the start of their recording career where the emphasis was upon recording original songs, although still mixed with covers. But previously the Beatles had been a great live act that had a large and energetic repertoire and with these performances it allows us to hear them playing some of those songs.

I've only just got Vol 2 which i am enjoying too, but not many extra songs, good to have another performance though.

I like both of these sets immensely, for the very reasons you cited: LIVE BEATLES! Not many good quality sources for that.
