Title: Music and Biology
Post by: 2 of 3 on November 07, 2014, 01:33:46 pm
So, I've been trying to write some songs. First time and all that. I'm finding that I tend to favour a certain flow or cadence. Is that ingrained in my biology? Am I writing like my own biorhythms? I'll admit, I like music that surprises me. It does annoy me a bit when I can tell where a song is going next before it happens. But that kind of music is everywhere and very popular. Is it us? Is that why we like what we like? I mean, obviously, I like that kind of music too..but why?

It's a mystery, Scoob! Zoinks!!

As I've gotten older, I find that there's something in almost any song I can appreciate.....sometimes you have to look REALLY deep, though.

You're a drummer Merv....after you've played a song a billion times, do you ever just think..ok...not tonight? I  don't care if it's a waltz...tonight...Reggae?   ;D

Oddly enough, I don't suffer from burnout like that, unless the song is one I don't like already. There are tunes we've played from the outset of the group I still like playing to this day...
