Title: John Lennon’s 30 Best Songs (Uncut Magazine)
Post by: kylenz on June 29, 2015, 08:18:59 am
Found this yesterday and it was a wonderful and highly-absorbing read - took me almost an hour all up to read it all - for each song, a musician gives their personal perspective on their chosen favourite, and at times there are some great personal insights from people involved in the recording sessions for the song. May Pang for example talks about '#9 Dream' and she does the whispered 'Johnhhhn' parts on it - yet Yoko when she made a video for it later makes it look like she herself is doing that vocal part. Catfight eh! Rawwwwr!  ;D

Who by the way, buys Uncut magazine? I used to pick one up from time-to-time, they would sometimes come with good CDs.. a bit like Mojo magazine. It's great that they are all readily available online now - and much of the material is made freely available by them.

Some great stuff here Kyle, thanks for the info.  :) It's great to hear other musicians talk about songs like that. I really liked this quote:
Quote
On the set of Help! I asked him: “Do you have lots of songs in a drawer that’ll be discovered after you’ve gone?” And he said: “No, I just ring up Paul and say it’s time we get together and write another hit.”

It must be amazing to be in a groove like that eh?  8)
