Title: Weather
Post by: 2 of 3 on July 19, 2015, 11:10:49 am
This has been a pretty weird summer so far. Here in Canada, the west coast is on fire. The east coast is almost cold. The middle is a bit of both..it can't make up its mind. 3 days ago it was 7C/44F.....today its 33C/89F.

This week there were stories about Kangaroo's playing in the snow in Australia. I know it's winter there and it does snow in the higher elevations, but that was just weird to see.

Looking the weather network site, I see our host Mervap is melting. 36 C tomorrow? Sorry, Merv. :(

Anybody else getting weird weather this year?

A cold summer until 3 days ago.  Superior is still too cold to swim in.

Meanwhile we are sweltering here in New Zealand. Have had fans on at work all day the last few days. It's nearly midnight and it would be about 80F. Too hot to sleep - just one light top sheet. A real heatwave!

Isn't it summer there Kyle? I mean...is that heatwave unusual for this time of year?

Yeah it's summer here, but it never varies so much in temperature like it has. We've been getting some big spikes recently.

That makes sense yeah....you're about 200 miles further north than I am. Almost a 700-kilometer drive, though. Jeeze...long way around those big lakes.

I hate cleaning the snow of the palm trees here.  8) ;) ;D

Man, it's cold today...brrr...and snow squalls for 2 days. The snowblower is getting a workout. I can't see out of the Prius because it doesn't get warm enough to defrost the windows. Weirdly, the wind and cold are coming from the south. At the moment, I'm 10 degrees colder than you Greg. For some reason, I don't feel like I'm winning this time.  ;D

Ha!  We are in the 30's next week.  Eat it 2!
My car doesn't have working windshield wipers.  I use Rain-X, so I am in the brotherhood of sub-par cars with ya.

(btw...we are going to NYC in June.  Driving.  Are you on the way from my peninsula to NYC?
I mean it would just be for lunch or dinner, but man that would be pretty cool.)

I don't know...would you not drive straight down and past Detroit and Cleveland instead of going around the lakes through Canada?

Hmm..well I just Google Mapped the routes and you'd be adding 5 hrs to your drive. ??? :o

Road Trip!  ;D 8) :P

Meanwhile, the heatwave continues in New Zealand - been renovating the house here with new cladding, insulation, re-painting and all new aluminium windows to replace the old rotting ones (house was built in 1922) and never before has this house felt so HOT! Nights have been so hot, it feels like you're roasting!
