Probably the biggest Canadian band you've never heard of is The Tragically Hip. They do have a large following in the US and Europe...but nothing like here. I'd say they are to Canada what Springsteen is to the US. They've been around since the early 80's. 14 albums. Fill stadiums. Frontman Gord Downie is a strange dude, but fascinating to watch. He put out a book of poetry years ago. He sold more books than any other person in Canada. Almost all the songs are about Canada. Crazy really.
Earlier this year, he was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. The band decided to do a final tour which ends tonight. The final show will be broadcast on Youtube.

That was crushing to find out. I didnt know the band, but after seeing those videos I thought...I really like that singer.
Also, that Bobcaygeon song was way cool.

Im watching it on tv right now. I like that singer because hes weird. I dont even know if I like this band but its interesting.
