A guy I know asked me today, "What's the difference between John and Paul?"
I said, "As people or musically?"
He said, "Both."
I told him what I thought for five or ten minutes. One of the points I made was that McCartney had immense talent and a way with melodies that is almost unrivaled. John was very artistic and had a style that Paul could probably never do. I also told him that there is so much overlap that it is difficult to categorize anything about them when comparing the two.
If one made a statement about Paul you could probably find an example from John that would apply to him too. (and vice-versa.)
As people it is easier to explain.

I wonder if that works with all creative people who are that close. Mick and Keef? Paul and Arty? I wonder too about the Finn brothers.
