I don't get many newly released albums. For me there were two albums I liked that came out in 2016:

Anderson Stolt - The Invention of Knowledge
Yes vocalist jon Anderson teams up with Roine Stolt the leader from the Flower Kings. The album is intricate well crafted and Jon Anderson leads it into his strange colourful universe and it gets plenty of beautiful embroidery from Stolt. It's a labour of love and a delight for me as a long time fan of Anderson.

Leonard Cohen - You Want it Darker
Cohen's final album and it just has good songs and the title track with it's message of Here I am, I'm ready my Lord. It's poignant.

I think that's it for me, I may come to like Bowie's Black Star but at present I find it a bit dark and twisted.

I'm in the same boat, Keri......not too much newly released stuff gets into my catalog, but's a few:

Gleeson- Curse My Lucky Stars= For anyone who kinda digs bands like ELO or Pugwash, this one ticks all the melodic boxes.

Tracy Bonham- Wax & Gold= Bonham does a country style turn, but with a more Americana twist....like her singing a lot in any case.

The Struts- Everybody Wants= Having kids can take one into strange musical territory. These guys are one of those type things for me...Sometimes, it sounds like the singer is channeling Freddie Mercury.

Saint Motel- Saintmotelevision=  Another strange one for me....these guys have a very dancey style of music, with a very wry sense of humor. Great driving music.

Michael Carpenter- The Big Radio= He claims this is his final album....lots of power poppy goodness, so check it out.

Never heard of them until now, just listening to Lazy Bones, pretty cool, some harmony vocals and 60's psychedelia touches on top of a nice clearly recorded song with good melody. I could imagine spending some time with that.
