Lately Ive been thinking how much I like Linda's voice. Im not sure where I stand.
I have always been fine with it. Never really loved her voice but appreciated it.
However...Im thinking that it would have been cool for Paul to have had a really good singer with him. Denny was pretty good IMO.
But did he have Linda in because John had Yoko in his band. Not totally. But Jennifer Warrens on a Wings album would have been cool...or there are many other females that could be named.
People always have said that her voice made Wings unique or whatever, and I just always kind of accepted that. But her voice was just not that good or appealing to me lately.
Anyway, havent been so keen on Linda's voice lately.

I think Jennifer Warnes can sing almost anything well, so why not Wings material? I go back and forth on Linda's vocal contributions, but I have to give Paul the benefit of the doubt here. I must have really meant a lot to him for her to be there, so I tend to give her a pass based on that.

It's kind of possible that Paul was imitating John by having Linda in the band but my feeling is that if he did so he was doing it better. John and Yoko were portrayed as really close basically because they did a lot publicly together and it was really in your face but they did have a break up and spent a lot of time apart from one another. Paul and Linda basically spent every day of their lives together, to me they were more of the real deal of a close couple.
In terms of performance Linda is so much easier to accept. Paul's work often had a very casual approachable quality to it and Linda's voice fits perfectly in that paradigm. It never felt out of place to me, she might not be a great singer but her voice seemed ok and her presence gave the music an intimate family warmth that is very appealing.
I think with Paul's own voice not being what it was he should now be open to collaborations with other singers. Brian Wilson had a whole lot of guest singers on his last solo album "No Pier Pressure" although it's a lot easier for Brian as he has always worked with multiple singers. Still I see no reason why Paul couldn't explore that avenue as I suspect he still bubbles with musical ideas.

Yeah, that is the pass Ive always given her too. Btw I just grabbed a female name out of the air. Didnt realize I misspelled it even. She did the album with Neil Young and sang Lotta Love no ? ? ? If not...who is Jennifer Warnes? omg
EDIT: Just looked it up. Nicolet Larson. Thats the name I tried grabbing out of the air. I like her harmony vocals. I still dont know who Jennifer Warnes is.

Jennifer Warnes sang with Leonard Cohen. She did an album of Cohen cover versions, Famous Blue Raincoat, I quite liked it. Ages since I heard it though. She has some other solo albums as well.

Jennifer Warnes had a huge radio hit in about 1977 with a song called "Right Time of the Night"....a good enough song, but not her strongest. If you have seen Roy Orbison's "A Black and White Night", she is one of the three backup singers, along with Bonnie Raitt and K.D. Lang.

BTW, if you haven't seen "A Black and White Night", you should really check it out....so many musicians I love are on that stage and they are obviously loving being in Roy's band.

Thx. I love Cohen. Love him. That song is ok to me. I agree with your "good enough" comment.
The other song was a 70s blur to me. I, to this day, thought it was a Linda Ronstadt song. I was prob in a Chevy Impala or other huge car getting high 100 times thinking I was listening to a decent Linda Ronstadt song...until now.
