Title: Lyricist
Post by: Greg on September 27, 2017, 05:08:18 pm
I have never much thought much of Paul as a lyricist, but I love almost all of his Wings lyrics.  I also think his Abbey Road lyrics are great as well as a few others.

I think Paul Simon is a poet in terms of lyrics.  Just love them.

Neither of those thoughts are the reason for this post.

I'm listening to Goats Head Soup.  I never thought much of Stones lyrics.  But I like Ruby Tues, If You Really Want To Be My Friend, Sweet Virginia, Shattered, Star Star, Til The Next Goodbye, and Gimme Shelter.

So...I think most Stones lyrics are ok and some are pretty bad,

You got any Stones songs where you think the lyrics are good?

Hmmm....never thought about this. Let me think......

I quite like "Gimme Shelter". Might be the performance swaying my opinion. Same thing for "She's a Rainbow".
