Wow. Hadnt heard.
I like that hes calling it this.

Seems like a good use of lockdown to make another album by himself and I just find it so great that approaching 80 years old Paul still wants to make new music. I should listen to his last album again.

It's McCartney III Eve, y'all!!!!!
-
Woohoo!

I have listened to McCartney III three full times now....a couple of observations:
1) The overall feel is much like the "bonus tracks" you might get on his post 2000 albums when you got the deluxe editions....good stuff, fun, but one understands why they didn't make the original cut.
2) Not all of these tracks are new. At least one is from the nineties.....and it's my fave on the album.
3) As a successor to the first and second eponymous albums, it is indeed worthy.......

I have listened to it just once so far, I followed it with Egypt Station. A few things struck me, one is that I am much slower to absorb new music than I used to be this is partly to do with deteriorating hearing, Paul isn't the only one getting older. But two I was filled with a sense of gratitude, Paul seems to me to be one of the artists who is most comfortable in his own musical skin, his work isn't deeply revealing yet I would characterise it as very honest. It's also amazingly playful for someone approaching 80 years old, even a lot more so than many much younger artists. There are different eras in Paul's career and i think the current one has it's charms.
Note there were some great passages in Egypt Station, now I'll have to Give McCartney 3 some more spins and maybe 1 & 2 as well.

I don't know what to say.
I like some of it.
One of the greatest voices in music history is 78, and he doesn't sound good to me.
The two solo albums have always meant so much to me. It's so weird to remember when McCartney and McCartney II came out and how new they
sounded. So strange to think that this is possibly it.
I hope we get McCartney IV in 2030 though.
