The thought I had during my first few times listening was that it sounded like "Angie" by the Rolling Stones. With time, that impression has mostly fallen away, but I can still hear a vague similarity of melodies in the verses.

Hotel California is a rip-off of 'We Used To Know' by Jethro Tull, from 1969. Very interesting! I didn't know of this! Seems nearly irrefutable that the Jethro Tull track "We Used to Know" must have influenced "Hotel California." Growing up, my older bro had a Jethro Tull record, but not that one.

They ain't on Cool 105, The Station That...Blah Blah Blah. I agree. I have tuned to a station like you heard only to hear the same tune just altered a little bit with some nondescript, heavily produced voice singing some nondescript melody.

I don't think it's today's artists. It's today's radio industry execs.
