i'm one...by the who.
can't tell if this one is full of self esteem and positive-ness...or wallowing in self pity. but it features the best harmonies the band has ever done.

Great song chris...thanks for that. Quadrophenia is a classic that doesn't get enough love. :)

When you led off this topic with Al Stewart, it reminded me that I just found a YouTube channel, Avro (http://www.youtube.com/user/webportalavro?feature=watch (http://www.youtube.com/user/webportalavro?feature=watch)), with some excellent-quality videos from the 70's and early 80's.
Al Stewart has several on this channel, including this one of "On The Border": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QU0aaoZuWnw (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QU0aaoZuWnw) (haven't heard this song for ages!)
Guess who I chose for my song of the day (from February 1975!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PatEynaDidk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PatEynaDidk)

Been listening to a lot of early ZZ Top lately, this one from 1973 has a good groove - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdjllsV-g3M
...and this is their first ever single from 1969 - 'Salt Lick': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfjAcPRrFfE

Was scrolling through my ipod and realized I'd never loaded Rod Stewart's "Footloose and Fancy Free" CD onto it....fixed that, post-haste!
This is my fave from that CD:

That's a killer riff....kinda reminds me of Lenny Kravitz. I guess I'm gonna have to check out some of this guy's stuff.

There's a track on the new album called 'Of The Earth', and features this wonderful off-the-hook guitar riff that reminded me a lot of 'Are You Gonna Go My Way', not melodically, but it serves the same function - a really appealing catchy lead guitar hook that opens the song and permeates throughout it.
I wanted to see Wolfmother when they were on the same bill as Macca at the Hard Rock Calling in London 2010.. but they pulled out because Stockdale was striken with illness and were replaced with The Hives (they were great too!). But I finally got to see them this year when they supported Aerosmith here in New Zealand. By then, Stockdale had already announced that he had gone solo and these would be the final Wolfmother concerts. They were sooo sooo good! The general vibe I got from people who went, all agreed that they were just as impressive as Aerosmith - I can't disagree with that!
There's not much of his solo stuff on YouTube unfortunately (seems to be tightly controlled).. this is one of the original Wolfmother hits - 'Dimension' (keeping the tradition of power trios going thru into the 21st century!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjJ7KCBykVU

That's a great song....I like all the change ups...keeps it interesting. :) I'm sure I said this somewhere else, but this is a good song for Michael Buble to cover. Somebody should call him . ;D

Yeah....and that line.....Life's a long song, but the tune ends too soon for us all....always made me think that was something Lennon would have come up with.

Way back in early 1994, I was working in St. Louis and had a night off....went to a place called Blueberry Hill. They were playing in the cellar. Loved them ever since.

I just found out it wasn't actually a new release, but a demo of a song from their first ever album.. they just released a collection of demos specially for Record Store Day this year. There was another track I heard that sounds very Brian Wilson.. it's called 'Light A Roman Candle For Me' - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkeFEDfBJsk
Really getting into this band Fun now!! Here's another killer tune, sounds like classic Queen! 'Why Am I The One' - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dO6WmM7w93I
