That U2 dude was actually good.  I would stay and watch that guy for awhile.

The king of U2 cover songs is, of course...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ht3d_KZqm58 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ht3d_KZqm58)

The lyrics represent so much of what is wrong with America.

"Well it's your choice...your right...to pick a card that shows your heart and your pride."  Bank of America?

It gets worse from there.

Guy has a brilliant voice. Wow.  :o

I enjoy watching Mike Masse. He has all these fantastic covers recorded at Pie Pizzeria in Salt Lake City, amidst pizza orders be announced and people walking in front.

This was the first one of his that I heard and it impressed me with his great tenor voice: a tribute to the late Brad Delp of Boston: http://youtu.be/nTDEQXl6Sn4 (http://youtu.be/nTDEQXl6Sn4).

Here are some Beatles cover of his that enjoy: (Things We Said Today/I'll Be Back): http://youtu.be/ICuKS1qmTXs (http://youtu.be/ICuKS1qmTXs) and "A Day in the Life" http://youtu.be/xmJGuxtYyWA (http://youtu.be/xmJGuxtYyWA)

He also has some fine Simon & Garfunkel covers, Scarborough Fair (Canticle) http://youtu.be/G9iVG4kg0sg (http://youtu.be/G9iVG4kg0sg) and The Boxer http://youtu.be/SSvhWM9s5SE
 (http://youtu.be/SSvhWM9s5SE).

What I can glean is that Mike Masse works as an attorney (a federal defender). Only recently, he announced that he would be moving to Denver, Colorado.

Dang yes.  He has a great quality about him.  More than just a good voice.  The Simon/Artie tune is fantastic.

Listening to John Bonham playing along to The Beatles, it reminds me of the John Bonham version of Beware My Love on the new Wings At The Speed Of Sound deluxe. He totally transforms that song with his roll and swing, it's such a shame that the rest of the backing track never progresses beyond the level of a basic demo/runthrough, and Macca's vocals on it are surprisingly subdued (compared to the rip-roaring performance on the final mix).

I recently heard this one, and I have to admit to being........underwhelmed. I saw the title and who played drums on it, but came away thinking that Bonham must have not gotten very much time to run thru the song. I like the drums on the original just fine, but I figured Bonham would just THUNDER it, in a good way, but I felt his version was just pretty ok. I think with a few more run-throughs, they might have had something.

I can understand that view too, and I too think the drumming is superb on the original. One thing about Bonham though, it's not just about him thundering his way through, he had a way of shuffling and a bit of a swag amongst it, and I think he brings it to the table here. But yeah, if only they had a few more run-throughs.. if only the band were as strident as they were on the final recorded version.

Quite right there, too.....I have always admired John Bonham's ability to rock and swing. He had a unique grasp, as a ROCK drummer, for other styles. His adaptation of the Purdie shuffle on "Fool In the rain" is sublime:

That sounded amazing. A bit disappointing to read the YouTube comments though, arguing over whether it's a triplet rhythm or a 4/4 beat. The usual name-calling.

I'm not sure if you folks know how to get around those things on Youtube..or...other sites..but...I put an extension on Chrome called Hola Better Internet. With it you can change what part of the world the site thinks you are from. So in your case Kyle...just change the flag in the top right corner to another country and away you go. It's also great for watching BBC content...just change to a Union Jack and then watch iplayer off the BBC site. It's a nice way to watch Top Gear the day after it airs in the UK. :)

Cool clip from Colbert.

I'll put a cover that I sing up.
Just watch from 2:00 to 2:45.  It's probably worth it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITvFt8LbhbE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITvFt8LbhbE)

The sound is what's going straight through the board.  It's horrible and raw.  It's not the mix the audience heard.
And yes there was a large audience there (if 100 is large).  They were all on benches, chairs, and blankets.  Those two ladies were just up there because their kids were in that mob who came up.

I hate this cover as well! But I'm also not a fan of New Order, though I do have the 'Blue Monday' 12" - it's the only half-decent thing they did. Joy Division had so much more verve and vigour going for them, to go from that to a vapid synthpop band with a terrible lead singer with zero presence compared with Ian Curtis - how they carried on for so long I'll never know!

I don't listen to Joy Division now, but I agree, they meant something had a style and cut their own path. New Order always seemed vapid to me, others seemed impressed but i just couldn't see by what.

I don't get either of the band(s). Every time I hear either of them my first thought is....ok...20 seconds in and I've heard the whole song already. Just repeating a lick for 7 minutes isn't a song. Lyrically....boo hoo. Stop whining for goodness sakes. I don't know...I guess I just didn't relate.  ???

LOL. Pretty much. Leonard Cohen and Nick Drake are beautifully artistic with their melancholy. But in the end I felt no desire to follow Ian Curtis into his emotional quagmire. I don't think you're missing out on much. Yet the music and delivery all created a certain consistent if gloomy atmosphere.

To my brother in law, they are 10 times better than the Beatles. And he loves the Beatles. I dread getting into a car with him. It's non-stop JD/NO on the car stereo. Though, it does give me a chance to razz him over it. 30 minutes in I can say...wow this is a long song!  ;D

What really annoys me is those artists I really like he hates....but those artists list JD/NO as their influences. Art is weird.  :D

I heard some flat spots, where she actually flatlines the note. She needs Autotune :P Not a big fan of the raspy timbre either. And her friends look like they've just come back from a pretty full-on Dungeons & Dragons session!  ;D

I guess it wasn't as good as I thought it was...or as appealing as I thought.

Sure it is. Rule #1 around here. Never listen to 2.  ;) ;D

Ive seen them 2x.  Sit kinda far away and its very cool because it looks like The Beatles more than close up.
They are unreal.  No tape loops or nothing.  The George guy is from Liverpool.  Also, that Ed Sullivan guy coming out during Hey Jude is unnecessary.  It's kind of authentic until that.

Everly's cover. Pretty great, though some of the chord changes sound weird to me. Are they?

Didnt notice any weird changes.  Maybe Kyle will pick them up.

The guy who wrote the music for Let It Be Me cowrote Love on the Rocks with Neil D.
The guy who wrote the words once said about rap music:  "a form of expression for people incapable of making music"

...and Id forgotten about him!

Im so glad I saw this.  This guy is unreal.

He would never win those talent shows on tv, but hes got passion and emotion and uniqueness, etc. Those shows rarely go for that.  They want polish man.  He aint polished.

Oh yeah, I've posted lots of Ron Sexsmith's stuff. I think it's kind of cool of him to do so many cover songs on Youtube(pretty much one a day) considering he has so many of his own tunes.

I would say that Tina Turner sings a better lead vocal on her version of She came in through the bathroom window than John did on the Beatles version, in fact I'd say there is no comparison. Hard to argue with that.
