Candlestick Park Farewell Concert - August 14, 2014
« on: August 16, 2014, 09:55:54 pm »

Hey, did anyone get to see the setlist of Macca's recent Candlestick Park sendoff concert?

http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/paul-mccartney/2014/candlestick-park-san-francisco-ca-6bced2ba.html

There's a great variety of stuff on there, including 'All Together Now' (from Yellow Submarine) and 'Mr Kite' (Sgt. Pepper) - very cool for Macca to do a John song. And quite ambitious of him to have a go at 'Long Tall Sally' (a nod no doubt to the original Beatles concerts in America back in the 60s) - I'd love to see some video footage of this concert. It really looks like a cracker.

And there's plenty from the 'New' album sprinkled in there too. Plus 'Listen To What The Man Said' - he hasn't done that one for a while! And 'Hi Hi Hi'.. 'We Can Work It Out' - the perfect cross-section of his career (well, still missing his 80s stuff.. it would be great to hear 'No More Lonely Nights' or 'Take It Away'..) .

What do you think? And apparently he played for nearly 3 hours!

Long Tall Sally - how the heck can he still do all those ultra-high notes?  :o https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCGjfVjNhJk

Isn't Long Tall Sally the last song the Beatles ever played in a paid concert?  How can a 72 year old guy sing that?  He was born with one of the most impressive voices ever.

I wish, back in the 70's, he would have written about 6 more tunes that show his ability to just scream out a tune like no one could but him.  Sort of in the tradition of Monkberry, Helter Skelter, the bridge on I've Got A Feeling, Oh Darling, the last part of Why Don't We Do It In The Road, the last part of Back Seat Of My Car, Mumbo, the end part of Wildlife, etc.

Did I miss a few?
