Speed of Sound

How do you feel about Silly Love Songs?

I love it and always have.  The song is perfect.  Piano is cool, counter melody stuff is cool, etc.  The bass?  If you hate the song you can't deny the bass line.

I was definitely a he-could-do-know-wrong fan in the 70s and most of the 80s.  But Silly Love Songs is great.  Even the lyrics fit.

Here is something related to that album:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnb-QoOdqeQ
It's Elvis singing Warm and Beautiful.

That was neat!

The only complaint I ever had about "Speed of Sound" was the lack of depth in the sound picture....it seemed very mid-rangy. Bass line was one of his best in that style, though.

Wow.  I'd never heard that, but that's a really cool look into that album.

Again...looking back so long ago...I wish someone was there to be a No-Man to him.  There are so many things to change on his stuff.  A critic was needed for him.  Anyway, it is what it is (whatever that means).  I worshiped every note of that album and still do.

The mid-rangy thing afflicted almost everyone then, as disco searched for the bottom end. Macca did it with taste...
