The New Madrids
« on: November 12, 2014, 01:06:27 am »

In my ramblings around the internet, I came across a band of talented veteran musicians from Perthshire in Scotland who came together to form a band called the New Madrids.

Here are two music videos:

Shine A Light http://youtu.be/lvNC3wmeHhs
Mountain of Trouble http://youtu.be/easne8NJcek

"Shine a Light" gives me a kind of Van Morrison feel. Here is a live performance of "Hey Christine" (one of my favourite tracks from their debut album, THOUGH THE HEART OF TOWN http://youtu.be/WRyHsGBlW4g.

Here's another video of this band in action: http://youtu.be/TMPEK5EPUAc (they're apologetic for their mistakes in the YouTube description, but I loved it!)

I bought the album here shortly after it was released: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/thenewmadrids and I follow them at Twitter "@NewMadrids".

That New Madrids outfit is great.  They have a down-home, old school, authentic, throw back sound that I love.  Somewhere music started to ignore this sound.  I am glad I listened to 3 of this band's videos.  I now appreciate them.

That Gordon video of Sundown was touching.  Way touching.  I like the guy singing with him without a mic.  He didn't step on Gordon's toes...he just complimented him.
