Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
« on: December 16, 2014, 09:21:49 am »

So...Ringo got in...for his solo work. All righty then!  ;D

Artists considered for this year but left out included:

Chic.
Kraftwerk.
The Marvelettes.
N.W.A.
Nine Inch Nails.
The Smiths.
The Spinners.
Sting.

They really do need to do a catch up award. There are WAY too many acts that that should be in already that never will because of whatever reasons.  I say this every year..but it doesn't matter who is in. It does matter who isn't.

Oh the RR HOF.

The rock and roll music of the Spinners?  NWA's great rock and roll songs?

I shouldn't even to respond to any RR HOF post because it is just a ridiculous institution...that I like talking about. lol

I am beside myself that ELO and The Zombies aren't in.
I am beside myself that there even is a RR HOF.
I have contradicted myself 3 or 4 times just in this post alone.

To me, the problem with Halls of Fame is this: a baseball hall of fame will include only people connected with baseball....Dan Marino was a great quarterback, but will never even be considered for the baseball hall of fame. Why? He didn't play baseball.

Rock-n-Roll is a very broad genre that cross-pollinated over a number of years.....really hard to say what rock-n-roll is. Much easier, to me, to tell what it is not. The Spinners: love their grooves, but not rock-n-roll. NWA? Nope. ELO? Certainly, as are The Zombies.

I had to look up NWA just to see who they were. That's not to say they aren't part of an innovative genre of music...not my thing so I know nothing about it. IF  they are though..I have no problem with them getting into the RRHF. I mean...I saw Joan Jett getting in and though..ok...I know like 3 of her songs...did that get her in? OR was what she represented get her in? I don't know..or care. When you see the list of who is NOT in...that bugs me.  >:(  If Britney Spears gets in before The Moody Blues...something is rotten  :-X

Well that makes sense then. It no secret Jann Wenner hates progressive rock..so...no Tull or Moody's or Yes or Deep Purple...yet. :)

I'm glad to see that Yes finally got inducted, too late for Chris Squire to see it and Rick Wakeman is refusing to go because it was such a long time coming, but still I am glad that they are finally getting the recognition they deserve.
