I've watched a bunch of these wine cellar series things and found almost everyone to be a bit pitchy. Somebody replied in the 10 Thousand Maniacs gig that the place is awfully cold and damp. Not great for a singer I would guess.  Still...pretty cool to see.

I enjoyed listening to the wide variety of music posted above. Recently I've been buying up a lot of Sinatra albums from the 50's and 60's. I've heard of April Wine but have never explored their catalog.

I mostly know Iris DeMent from the Transatlantic Sessions, but your video make me think of this video I came across by an 'Americana' singer named Emmy Nash (whose vocals reminded me a bit of Iris).

That's was excellent. I'm not really sure what technique he is using to get that whistle sound, but he knows how to control it perfectly. Amazing!

Below is a song by Norwegian singer/songwriter Marit Larsen, who is probably best known in Norway and Germany. I think it was in about 2010 that it became a #1 in Germany for several weeks.

I had never heard of her until a musician in Europe mentioned her to me a couple years ago. Her parents are both musicians; her father plays cello in the Oslo Philharmonic and her mother teaches piano. She recently announced at her Facebook page that she wants to release her next album in April on her own small label (without geo blocks).
