Sounds like...

This has been my favorite album for over a year.  It's the Hiltonaires from the Jamaica Hilton Hotel.  Every song on it is great. The instrumentation is perfect.  It's just a raw sounding record with the authentic feel of those magical early ska years.

Anyway...this song is never mentioned as being borrowed from.

Funny....I didn't hear the Cat Stevens, but one can sing the bridge from "All I Have To Do Is Dream" by the Everly Brothers over the bridge of this one and it fits perfectly. I'd never heard of this group, but I LOVE the homemade sound and the authenticity of it all.
