Washington DC Concert
« on: May 06, 2016, 04:20:14 pm »

I think I've posted this before, but couldn't find it....may I say that the Lads definitely were in top form this night, Ringo in particular. They were all in the flush of conquering this huge new country and it shows in the enthusiasm....

Sweet.

Of course that video prompted me to read about that concert.

Over 8,000 people.

First time they ever played in the round.

Paul stole one of Ringo's drumsticks from the show.  He later gave it to a girlfriend's little sister to impress the girlfriend. (Like at that point he needed to do that?!!!)  He, much later in is adult life, tracked down the old girlfriend but the drumstick was nowhere to be found.

There's also a video somewhere by a couple of fans who got the chance to go inside the old building where the concert was held.....I think I recall it being an indoor car park now.

At around 13:00 when they do This Boy and they turn the drums around, the amps are pointing the other way. Now, they don't have monitors right? Are they just hearing themselves over the stadium sound system/PA?   And if so...how in the heck do they do that? Wow. 8)
