Hell In A Handbasket
« on: May 21, 2016, 02:55:14 pm »

Sorry Kyle...I done stole your idea.  :o :)

Has the internet made us all crazy?

I only ask this because I'm surrounded by friends and family that keep telling me the end in near. But..is it really? Isn't all the trouble in the world just magnified by 24/7 coverage? Are things really worse than at any other time in recorded history?

I'll quote kyle from another thread:
Quote
Yeah there's a difference though between bias and flat-out lies.

Is there? I mean...if you are drawn to a topic for any reason...you have a side and you will gravitate to your bias no? Even with the US election primaries it's Trump is nuts. Hillary is corrupt. Bernie is a socialist. Or..no they aren't. Whose down the middle? Who's right? Who can prove it? How many facts will be ignored even if they know everything?  If somebody says they believe in God and somebody else says there isn't a God. Whose right? Neither can prove their point. Yet, there are some that will kill each other over it.

There is a counterpoint to everything. I'm amazed how many people get bent out of shape over things that just don't matter. And saddened even more by how it's presented by so-called "news" organisations. If you have to lead a newscast with an entertainment teaser to keep you viewing, then maybe we are all screwed. :-\

One of my favorite quotes ever:

“The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.”

Not really, but it has given the nutters a platform from which to speak.

That is really really cool.

And 2 I agree.  There have been many times where it has seemed that things were gonna end or get really bad.  I remember my impression of the 60s, by listening to the neighborhood grownups, was that society was totally collapsing and we were going to go into some crazy age of chaos and doom.

But Ill bet that the end of the horse and buggy had people in a panic.  Can you imagine what WWI or II had people thinking?

Well, I must completely disagree with the premise of the thread. The internet is giving us more information, it certainly hasn't made us crazy. It's made us wiser. It may not be the end of the world just yet but it is certainly a lot worse than it has been. Obama for example is going to make sure that he has done as much damage as he can before he gets out of office. Do you know what his latest thing is? To instruct teachers to speak in a new transgender-friendly dialect. Welcome to 1984 and the antichrist, peeps. The deep dark descent into Hell.

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/05/18/transgender-sex-police-obama-rules/

And it's all because his 'wife' is a tranny in the first place. Just ask Joan Rivers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Et38_Ufv-Jw

And now we've had 'normalising' of transgenders going on (in New Zealand we even have a soap with a teenage transgender character, played by a young transgender actor!); the next stage is to normalise pedophiles and yep we have a writer for that godawful socialist/liberal-biased online rag Salon, he's head of an organisation called 'Virtuous Pedophiles', pleading for understanding and that he is not a monster -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-X6nskqfy5k

-the best thing for someone like him is a bullet to the head. But oh no, you can't say that in this Twilight Zone world where you need to have pity and respect for the morally-bankrupt. Otherwise you 'trigger' them and they need to head for their 'safe spaces'. I'm now glad I don't need to raise a child in this world where traditional values and morals have completely gone out the window.

Even good ol' harmless Bernie (everyone loves Bernie, right?) once wrote a piece advocating for the sexual organs of toddlers to be freely visible and touchable - http://downtrend.com/71superb/bernie-sanders-has-an-unnatural-obsession-with-underage-sex

And yet it's TRUMP who is regarded as insane?????????
So, building a wall to keep the drugs and crime out and make the border agents' job a hell of a lot easier, is insane?
An Air Egypt plane was blown to pieces and ISIS have claimed responsibility - yet Trump is considered insane to vow to knock the crap out of them and ensure they don't get into the USA?

I'm still yet to disagree with anything Trump has said. To me, he's still the same guy that fired people on The Apprentice - tough but fair - fair on women - AND on different races/backgrounds. See, this brings me to a PRIME example of outright lies in the news media - last week (even though it has nothing to do with NZ.. go figure..), it was the #1 headlines on our New Zealand evening news that TRUMP HATES WOMEN -  and that the NEW YORK TIMES published a report from the testimonies of around 50 WOMEN and TRUMP'S MISCONDUCT TOWARDS WOMEN!

It turned out to be a Hillary-sponsored hit piece, and NONE OF IT WAS TRUE! Hillary is spending $130 million dollars to drag up all the dirt on Trump that she can - nevermind that she actively terrorised the rape victims of Bill Clinton and there's a book coming out from one of Bill's ex-lovers about how he bragged he's had 2000 lovers, but they were far from consensual - and Hillary was responsible for threatening them to stop them from pressing it any further. Yet you'll never hear anything on the news about that. Funny that.

Anyway, not only was the New York Times hit-piece on Trump a complete fabrication, 6 of the women interviewed for that story came forward directly to Trump and expressed their anger at how untrue the article was. And the New York Times are now in serious trouble and there may be legal ramifications to follow.

I feel more lucid than ever thanks to the advent of the internet - it certainly hasn't made me crazy. But I see the effect of the daily media making people more confused than ever about society. That's because they aren't really aware of what's really going on. They were raised on the idea that the media is still somewhat truthful.. not always completely trustworthy but generally you could rely on them to get the story reasonably straight.

But we now have a situation where the media is owned by the Establishment thanks to a fellow by the name of George Soros that most people won't have heard of. Well he is bankrolling Hillary's campaign and desperately trying to keep his corporate cronies in power and trying to keep the general public on their side, and casting any challenges to that power as 'insane' or 'mean'. This is why on the Republican side we have the likes of Romney, Ryan, the Bush family etc all scrambling to preserve what little power they have left before Trump takes out the trash. The Republican party have long been co-opted by these 'neoconservatives' and they are on the exact same side as Hillary and Obama - they only have corporate and overseas interests to answer to - namely Saudi Arabia who funded ISIS AND 9/11. They are funding the destruction of Europe and the overrunning of migrants and funding wars to cause this displacement. Why? In the 19th century, a fellow by the name of Albert Pike wrote about it. It's been a long-festering end goal they've been working to achieve for over a century now - a one world government.

I guess I can bring this back around to fit our site. All of us have known someone who says the Beatles are overrated...that all the songs sound the same. Now, when I hear that I think...what a clown! But those people honestly believe the Beatles suck. I guess a certain percentage of them could possibly come around if you educated them...but there are some that will not budge. There's no logic to it. It's what they believe. I mean, I'm no different. Merv alluded to my dislike of Jon Anderson-less YES. I know I'm wrong. The stuff is different of course, but it's still good. But I don't like it. Makes no sense at all.

The trouble starts when it's actually something important. Then you have a billion people thinking that way and it hits the fan. It's too bad being illogical is contagious.

This is what I mean. There isn't a neutral news agency. Everything you wrote kyle I've seen before and thought..ok....that's interesting. I wonder if it's true? What's the other side? That's the problem for me. I read that stuff and think. Well..that's goofy. Then I read the lefts side and think...ok that's goofy too. It's really difficult to know what the truth is.

Yeah, it's hard to know the truth of it all for sure. Best thing we can do is ride through it.

Only half wrong....I mentioned your dislike of the Trevor Rabin era Yes. Jon was in the group then. :-)

True. I guess my point is that "some guy" shouldn't be writing all those Yes songs. They are good songs, though. No logic.  ;) ;D

I'm kind of hoping that Trump does win. I really don't think anything will change. I suppose you have to be a bit weird to even want to be POTUS.  :P

I think one good thing about Trump winning is that it would show that the Pres is practically a figure head.  He is the manager of Burger King.  He does not own the Burger King.  The owners decide how the business is run.
