Wow.  It seems weird that theyd put Amys version as a song that came with a player.  Youd think theyd have pushed Galileo.

Gordon has played in our town but I missed him.

I like the subtle accompaniment they add to his playing.

Nah, it was Dire Straits. She probably wasn't even born yet.  :)

Muttonbirds - Nature

This is regarded as a kiwi classic. I heard the guy that wrote it sing it, to his acoustic guitar at our local school fair. The Mutton Birds version breathed new life into it but I still adore the original:

Yeah, I only knew about them because I have one of those promotion CD's with a bunch of artists on the same label. This is the song that was on it.

Anchor Me

Then I found an acoustic version the other day. My goodness, the vocal is beautiful.  :o

This version has so much more style than her Ed Sullivan version.

Anchor Me is my favourite Mutton Birds song. Thanks for sharing that I hadn't seen the acoustic version before, it's an excellent performance. Helen Kelly worked with me ex, nice homage to her.

But with the other video, I think with that video they were pressured by the record company to make a rock star version when they were trying to break through in the UK. This was the original video which seems more in keeping:

Here's an earlier song of McGlashan's that I really like, when he was part of a quirky duo the Front Lawn:

I had Mutton Birds on shuffle most of the day. They really have some good stuff. I liked every song I heard.  8)

20f3.  nice one.  Great voice.  Great voice that would be kicked off of American Idol in a second.  Id never heard of this guy, but how cool this was.  Artists like this just dont get the hype they should.

Mine is again the Indigo Girls.

Yeah, I find it interesting the voices people adopt later on. Considering he was born in Scotland and grew up in Toronto, you'd wouldn't think he'd sing with a country accent.  :)

You can never go wrong with Indigo Girls.  :)
