Tribute Albums
« on: August 12, 2018, 08:14:49 am »

So I'm listening to Restoration, a Nashville tribute to Elton and Bernie.  Overall it's pretty good, but I'm listening to Sacrifice and it annoyed the heck out of me.

The original by Elton has a cascading feel that takes away the sameness of the melody. When you get to "there's no sacrifice...at all" the bass line goes down and gives it emotion.
In this version, it doesn't do that, which makes it sound the same as the rest of the song. I wonder why they did that?

Yeah, I'm reaching for topics. LOL ;D

At first, I'd thought maybe the key they sang it in might be the culprit, but I don't sense that after listening to it. I would guess it's just an artistic choice.....I agree that the choice does take something away from the tune.
