I don't think it is.

PPM may not be the best debut album, but what other band got better and better with each release? No contest. 

And since we are talking about the Beatles, how about Definitely, Maybe by Oasis?

I never thought that it was an upward trajectory of them getting better with each release.  As in the White Album was better than Pepper, and Let It Be was better than the White Album, and Abbey Road...etc.

Debuts......in terms of sheer bang for the buck, it's hard to top Please Please Me.
