Tim Christensen

Tim Christensen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Christensen) is a Danish musician - a fine singer, songwriter and guitarist. I only found out about him a few years ago through the recommendation of some other musicians in Europe, where he's better known. Of course, he's less known in the U.S. His solo albums are Honeyburst, Secrets On Parade and Superior. He is also known for being part of the band called Dizzy Mizz Lizzy.

On Paul's 70th birthday, Tim got together with Americans Mike Viola and Tracy Bonham to do a concert of Wings music, focusing on Ram but including some of the other Wings classics. The concert has been released on CD, LP and DVD. Here is the DVD trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUG03WNKj9g. I have this DVD and it's a lot of fun.

Tim released a series of videos on YouTube which he dubbed "Low Key/Late Night" since he wanted to make it feel like an informal visit to his home when his gets his guitar out and plays some music:

He reveals his love of the Beatles in the following Beatles covers
Strawberry Fields Forever
Blackbird
Rocky Raccoon
Getting Better

John Lennon covers
Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
Oh My Love

I do like his cover of "Happy New Year" that was originally by ABBA: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVJqDjCy85c

What about his own music?

Here's a song called "Never Be One Until We're Two" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QQFGzhAdWg

"Lost and Found" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDh3gFho5uo

He does some 'rockier' music, such as this song called "Surprise Me": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stFdqFr7WYI

"Whispering at the Top of My Lungs" from Honeyburst http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqoU8yNkSww

One of his loveliest songs is actually a hidden track on his Honeyburst album. It's called "How Far You Go": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13k49okD9DA

I have a feeling that I mentioned some of this before, but I couldn't find it!

Thanks for confirming that. In my mind, it didn't seem that long ago and yet I could not find it. I must have posted it just before the old board went kaput. The cover of "Getting Better" is new, at least. ;)

Here's a Left Banke cover recording that he did in 1999 to test out his new Protools system just before his first solo album: http://soundcloud.com/timchristensen/tim-christensen-she-may-call

That's an excellent cover of a great tune, one of only two covers of that song I think are really worthy....the other being the version by Matthew Sweet and Susanna Hoffs on their "Under the Covers Vol. 1" CD.
